Objectives

The main objective of BIOTOOL-CHF is to improve the efficiency, through personalization, of diuretic therapy for patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction with the aid of a decision-making tool integrating the diagnostic and prognostic information of a selected array of biomarkers with the clinical and demographic characteristics of each patient.

BIOTOOL-CHF research activities will lead to identification of a selected pool of biomarkers validated for prediction of fluid overload to be implemented in a companion diagnostic prototype. This tool coupled with a fluid retention score and a prognostic score integrated with a set of specific patient characteristics will be the basis to develop the BIOTOOL CHF Decision-Making Tool functional to help health care providers in managing fluid balance.

Patients increase adherence to the GDMT

Measure of the adherence to current GDMT in HFrEF

Reliable companion diagnostics based on multi biomarker

Development and validation of the companion diagnostic

Development of a prognostic score to provide decision-making support

A portfolio of biomarkers associated with fluid overload with report of the scored predictive reliability

Provide standardisation of physicians’ approach while granting appropriate personalization according to patients’ characteristics

Collection of co-developed concrete recommendations to implement use of the developed tools in clinical guidelines
